Those who know me know my favorite way for you to contact me is to first get to know me on social networks. Email and text message are what I prefer to hear first. But what I have learned in business is what this week’s theme is about: It’s not about you.
I have to learn that others like to be contacted in different ways, so I must learn to contact them in the way they prefer. That is a start of finding out what people want. The next part is learning about them before we just feed them information and solutions.
One of Zig’s famous quotes is, “You can get what you want in life if you first help enough other people what they want.” To help people get what they want, you must know their needs. But most people are not willing to just come out and tell you their needs. You have to get to know them first.
So the biggest point is to find out about others before you just start selling – not just find out what they want but find out who they are. So how do you do that? You get to know them by asking questions.
My friend, Brian, told the story on my radio show a few months ago about how to become interesting to people. You start by asking them questions about themselves. You become interested in them.
So this week is all about learning what others are about, before you jump to tell them about your MLM, or how the product you have is a fit for them. If they do not know you, they really will not care about what you can do for them.
This week we will cover the idea that it’s not about you. Whether you’re thinking about how your business is to serve customers or how to increase your sales, the first thing you must realize is it’s not about you.
The problem in the sales or lack of sales that some people are having right now is they believe they need to share content, product facts, and figures. When it comes to sharing your product, it’s not about you or your product. It’s about people.
We need to get back into knowing people, get to know about them and see what really matters to them. What really matters to them, not the facts about your product, but what really matters to them? Join us this week as we uncover how it’s not about you.
