This old investment myth is going to make a stop on our page today – and we’re going to use it to put an end to several wrong ideas. People must get past the idea that they will make it when the magic money or lottery number hits. They need to get up and take some action, stepping out in faith, not waiting for the perfect time to get started. But instead, they fall back on the myth: “Well, I don’t have the money.” This is the myth or excuse that it takes money to make money; that we must have money to get started.
The history books are filled with stories of people who faced many struggles – even bankruptcy – to push an idea, product or company to become profitable. In the face of this, I am reminded daily of the quote that has pushed both of my businesses:
Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
I can tell how close I am to a new success by how hard the struggles become – like the week we purchased our first rental property. A deal that should have taken less than three weeks to complete, took two months and we were both ready to give up.
Even now we face challenges in business, and as they get harder and harder, I know another big success is coming. Having the money to make it happen is one of the reasons I have Jason Nast at most of my events so he can tell you about crowd funding and the solutions to get people started.
But the myth that it takes money to make money can be turned around if you look for other ways to find the money to get started. Currently we are in pre-launch mode for a book. Pre-selling the book and taking orders before the first shipment arrives is a way for us to raise money and know we have sales before it ships.
Selling products that others offer and taking a commission from the sales is a way to raise money to start your own project. If you are still working a salary job, you can use that income to finance your project until you can replace it.
Finding the money is done in many ways. If you cannot find the money to get your project done, then maybe it’s time to invest in some advice from those who can help you find it. Are you willing to get the help you need? Schedule a one-hour consult today to see how we can help. Remember the old line: “Two heads are better than one and five heads better than two.” Stop trying to do this all on your own, get some help.
