How many things in a day do you find that stress you out? In our fast-paced world, I find so many things that start to stress me out. The idea of something not happening in time, a mistake happening, or a plan falling through is very stressful to me.
I used to get so stressed out over the most minor things. I then heard a man share this little tidbit: “You can tell the size of the man by the size of the object that pisses him off.”
I guess this is why I never took up golf. I have watched a few men get so upset over the wrong direction that little ball went and it made me think about that statement.
Now I am not going to tell you I do not get very upset, because I do; it’s just at things that are a little larger in scale – like the lady driving her car with a baby in the back seat, one hand with a lit cigarette the other with a cell phone, and using her knees to steer the car.
I know I just said that and someone reading got a little upset. But here is the truth: if we feed the stressful thing or feed that anger, it gets stronger. If you can learn to let it go and just move forward with your day, you will feed that peacefulness.
So how does this fit into our week? First, stressful things can put a strain on your health that takes away from that RockStar sexy body. Second, if you cannot learn to manage your stress levels as an entrepreneur, you will not be around long enough to enjoy the success of your business.
It was 10 years ago last week that I lost one of my closest friends. Richy was 34 years old, ran a successful company, and had just bought his dream Ferrari. Rich carried lots of stress; he was always thinking about things. While I think there were some other things that led to his heart attack and death, I’m sure the stress of life and business was not much help.
So what is stressing you? How are you going to change your life to make the stress a little easier on your life? Take a moment in today’s call to action and make a list of the things that get you upset. Then look at the list and ask yourself, “What is the worst that could happen to ME in this situation?”
That is what helped me take the stress away, learning how much it really affected me. I had to stop worrying about things that were not in my control. I recommend you do the same.
