So today was a wonderful day. I started with a phone call with a coach I mastermind with every now and again. She pointed out how I need to create a higher value coaching program because of the results I have gotten for the clients I have now.
I hope to someday have a $25,000 or $35,000 coaching program, but right now I’m growing and, as you grow, you must keep setting higher goals, reaching higher to help your clients get past the level they are at.
For my next meeting of the day, I was sitting with another coach. I believe she could create programs with the very things she has in place now, reaching clients with fees that are comparable to mine.
So I had a day filled with one coach pulling me while I’m pulling another coach; all three of us are changing lives in the DFW area and watching people reach success on higher levels than before.
Then I came back home to work on some things in the office when our new dining room chairs arrived. So I headed downstairs and they are in boxes. What did I do? I started the process of pulling them out of the box, working with my father-in-law and aunt assembling the chairs. It’s a project that took us just under 2 hours: 8 chairs 2 hours.
It was not until we were half finished that I remember what one of my coaches told me: in his life, he never does the work if he can pay someone $100 or less to do it instead. That’s when I realize our income is directly related to the value we place upon ourselves in our own minds.
It is hard to think of, but we could have paid one of the kids to put those chairs together, while I was upstairs in the office helping to create better coaches and entrepreneurs who make major changes in lives.
As I was told this morning, I have created great value in the lives of my clients and other coaches have told me I should charge more for my coaching. I was telling someone else they should create a better program, make more money as a coach and walk away from a current part-time job serving food.
Yet, eight hours later, I was in my garage doing a chore that someone else could have done faster and it would have saved me money to pay them to do it.
So we have to learn when to say “no” to the do-it-yourself mentality. I was teaching this to the people I cleaned cars for 20 years ago, yet I still struggle with all the things I do. What can you pay someone to do for you, while you work to create a better world or a stronger business that would pay you ten times more than what you are doing now? Where can you say “NO” to the DIY projects in your life and business?
