I recently found a book on Amazon and downloaded it to my Kindle. It had a catchy name that caught my attention. It was called How to Knock Over a 7-Eleven and Other Ministry Training
The book was about how a group had to get out and find ways to reach their community to start a new church. One of the very first points brought up in the book is a common problem with many of businesses, especially the MLM business people.
Yesterday I shared how they find one person and just seem to vomit the sales pitch over and over again. Well today is one of the reasons why: they have become so closed-in by the world they live in, they forget to step outside and meet the real people.
This is a problem in many churches, as I read in the book. Over time, all your friends are inside the church and they stop reaching out to help grow the church. Well the entire point of the MLM is to grow, to find new prospects. You have to find more and more places to find potential clients and business partners.
One of the keys in business is to surround yourself with like-minded people, but in this case it brings the “wannabe” entrepreneur to a place of closed circle. While you are working inside to grow your business, you stop looking and thinking like those who are not in your MLM.
The problem over time becomes being too caught up what you are doing with your friends and those building the business. When you walk into another meeting like I attended last week, you meet other people who cannot relate to you. So what is the solution?
A few years ago when I was getting ready to start building Rocker Life Coach, I was involved in a motorcycle ministry. To go into the motorcycle community, I had to be able to relate to those who were inside the community. I had to learn their language.
We have to learn to step outside the MLM world and start to think like other people do. Remember what it was like the first time you heard about your MLM? You did not know how anything worked, you didn’t understand the structure, or process. You were on the outside looking in.
To change this, you must start thinking like you did before you got started. That is how you will reach others with your product, service, or mission. You must be able to understand what it takes to move someone who has no clue to understand the value of the product or service you are about to share with them.
Again it’s about building relationships. If you take the time to get to know someone and build trust level, you will get to understand the real concerns that matter to them before you just suggest a solution to something they don’t even believe is a problem.
So how is your process working to reach the world with your MLM? Do you know where you will be if you continue on this course for the next 12 to 24 months?
