So the joke goes if you don’t like the weather in Texas, wait five minutes. The other joke is, “Yeah, we get snow on a Friday and it’s gone by Tuesday and the sun is shining.” And, “Only in Texas could you get all four seasons in one week.”
Have you ever planned that picnic or family outing, and then watched the weather for a week before hoping it would be nice? You then see there is a 20% chance of rain and storms. But you wake up that morning, look at the few clouds and think it will be OK. But you were wrong.
So many times as bikers we have planned an event then halfway through the trip you see ten bikers looking for a gas station, pulling under the canopy and taking up space to keep dry. I get asked almost every day, “What do you do when it rains?” My reply, “Put on rain gear.”
In 2009 when I went to owning a bike only and moved 30 miles from my work at the time, that is when I really began to notice the rain. So many times I would have to quickly look for cover! I’ve been caught in the rain and worn my rain suit so often, I wore out that rain suit.
Nothing will make you run for cover faster than getting caught in the rain on a motorcycle. I have done three days straight of riding in the rain and still I hate getting caught in the rain. Like most people, I would rather ride on dry roads all day long. But on that occasion when you are about to get hit with a strong rain, you do not have the time to slow down and look around.
Finding cover and sitting it out for a few minutes means you’d better act fast because if you don’t, you’ll get wet. The idea week is about taking action and acting fast and, really, it’s just like getting caught in the rain. If you want to stay dry, you get up, act fast and find cover.
When you want your business to succeed and really want to exchange the life you have for the life you want, well you need to act on the choices that are put in front of you just as fast. It’s time to stop standing around getting wet, waiting for someone to bring out an umbrella or take you to a dry spot.
Often you watch the info webinars and seminars where people are giving you great information on how to take action in life and fix your life. You’ll hear from them about how to maximize your profits and build a more successful business. The reason those people attending the seminar got up and ran to the back of the room? They understood the value that was being offered.
Life is full of these offers, not just in our industry, but in every business out there. There are ways that you act fast, buy a package deal that gives you such value and usually saves you hundreds and thousands of dollars if you act quickly.
It’s time to clean off your shopping glasses and really open your eyes to look at what is being offered to you every day. I’ll bet you have been offered many deals that you just walked by where you could have paid a quarter of what you actually ended up paying later.
Now apply that same principle to when to make offers to people. If you know when people are going to need your product or service, why not make the deals to help them out? It’s time to take action, to get off the fence. I’ve said it before and I’ll repeat myself: the solution to your problem starts with the man you look at in the mirror every day. Let’s fix it, and make this year a year of success.
