If you have not read by now, one of the greatest mentors to all those in our industry has passed. It was a shock to wake up on Wednesday morning this week and find out through friends’ Facebook posts that Zig Ziglar had finally made it to the top.
This week in our theme of being a responsible entrepreneur, I could not find a place to just add in about Zig; I had to think about it. I am hosting another live event this week and so much creative work was put into making this event move forward.
But the thoughts of Zig worked on my mind and worked hard. Tonight as I am working on this post from my hotel room, I had to shut off a show that just grabbed my heart, distracting me from getting my work done. I had to shut it out to get these thoughts out.
Now it hits me how being successful is an absolute responsibility of every entrepreneur. Zig Ziglar took that on in his life; his life was a success. He taught one simple principle that he will be most remembered for, something every entrepreneur should remember:
“You can have everything in life that you want if you just give enough other people what they want.”
You see, that was the reason I made this last day devoted to the responsible entrepreneur about this absolute requirement. The entrepreneur must be successful and to get that way he must first help other people. The entrepreneur must have the attitude to make it; he must believe he is successful, long before it ever shows.
As I sit tonight in my hotel room writing this, I was watching the story on TV about how a couple with three children who actually had good jobs lost their house and became homeless with kids; to see the hope they had and the fact that they are not giving up reminded me that is it we need: to never give up; to always believe we can succeed. After all, the world is counting on our success.
So my final call to action of the week is this: what is your plan to make a success of your entrepreneur life? Take time this weekend and write out your plan for making the next year successful. If you need help making your plan, come to one of our live events.
